- The janet. World Tour was Janet's second concert tour and was in support of her 1993 album janet.
- The flowing white stage design was inspired by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. It consisted of large video cubes that moved vertically and were also used as platforms for dancing, hundreds of lighting effects, pyrotechnique equipment, giant blow-up balloons, street lamps, benches, elevators, and twisted beams and columns.
- Hundreds of costumes were created for the tour ranging from cowboy inspired outfits, carnival costumes, and 1940's style zoot suits.
- The full tour has never been released on home video or, nor has it ever been aired in full on television. Several individual songs from the tour have been broadcast on different television specials, including an MTV special from the opening night of the tour when the songs "If" and "Rhythm Nation" were respectively shown.
- Music videos for the songs "Because of Love" and "What'll I Do" were filmed using footage from the tour.
- This was the first time that Janet toured in Australia.
- Two concerts were held at Radio City Music Hall to benefit the Rwandan crisis. Both shows were professionally filmed with the intentions of airing them on television, however none of the footage has ever been released.
- The opening act from the start of the tour until early 1994 was Tony! Toni! Toné! In the spring of 1994, the show was opened by Mint Condition. On select dates in the summer of 1994, both MC Lyte and Tevin Campbell were individually the opening acts. During the shows when MC Lyte was in attendance, she would later join Janet on stage and rap during "You Want This." During the spring of 1995, MN8 served as opening act.
- Janet titled the 1994 North American leg "Summer Escapade." Most of the shows held during this leg were performed at outdoor venues.
- As each leg continued throughout the tour, pieces from the large stage set were gradually no longer used. By the very end of the tour, the set was smaller and contained fewer pieces than when the tour began.
- The tour generated over $35 million in the United States, $60 million worldwide.
- It is estimated that over 1.3 million people attended the show.
- During a 2008 interview with Larry King, Janet revealed for the first time that she wants to release both the Rhythm Nation Tour and the janet. Tour on DVD, however both tours still have not yet been released on home video.
