NOTES: All for You is the seventh studio album from Janet Jackson, released on April 24, 2001 by Virgin Records. Songs on the album contain a more mainstream pop sound and the content mainly centers around her feelings of independence and being single after having recently ended her marriage with René Elizondo, Jr. In addition to producing and co-writing again with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, hip-hop and R&B record producer Rockwilder produced several of the album's tracks.
Singer Carly Simon is featured on the track "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)."
The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with more than 605,000 copies sold in the United States during its first week alone. It is certified two-times platinum by the RIAA, and has sold over 3.1 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Janet supported the album with her fourth concert tour, the All for You Tour.
Although initially published during its first pressing without a parental warning label despite strong language and sexual content in several songs, subsequent pressings added this label and a clean version of the album was eventually released that edited lyrics used in "Son of a Gun," "Love Scene (Ooh Baby)," "Trust a Try," and "Better Days," and completely omitted the song "Would You Mind" in its entirety. The explicit version is Janet's first album to carry a parental warning label.
The Japanese version of the album contains the bonus song "Who."
On November 20, 2001, the album was re-released and included an additional bonus track, "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You) (P. Diddy Remix feat. Missy Elliot and Carly Simon)."
On that same day, a limited edition bonus DVD version of the album was also released, containing a CD with the clean version of the album and two bonus remixes of "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)," and also a bonus DVD featuring every single music video that Janet had released with Virgin Records since 1993, behind the scenes featurettes, and a live performance of "All For You" at Janet's MTV Icon special. This "DVD Edition" of the album was published using completely different album cover artwork than was used on the normal edition of the album.
