Dupri: Janet will no longer appear on 'Rush Hour 3' soundtrack
Responding to fan inquiries about when Janet's song from the "Rush Hour 3" soundtrack would be released, Jermaine Dupri said in a post on MySpace.com that she will no longer be appearing on the soundtrack.
"I ended up not doin' it 'cause the movie takes place in Paris and alotta [sic] the music didn't fit," he said in the post. "So all of you lookin' for that Janet record, you gotta wait 'till she's finished with the new album, sorry."
In April, Dupri posted a bulletin on MySpace.com announcing that Janet would have a single on the soundtrack. |

Janet attends Simpsons movie premiere party
The Miami Herald is reporting that Janet attended a Simpsons movie premiere party in Miami on Wednesday:
The Forge had a big party last night for the kick off of The Simpsons movie featuring drag diva Elaine Lancaster as Marge, of course. Almost as big as Lancaster's hair was the presence of Janet Jackson, who sat in the restaurant's corner table, with her back facing the dining room. Jackson's table was surrounded by bodyguards, but when Lancaster made her way over, Jackson invited the drag queen to sit down in what began, according to spies, "a love fest." When Lancaster got up to leave, Miss Jackson was overheard telling the restaurant's GM, "I love her!" As for rumors that Jackson has put on weight, our source says "things couldn't be further from the truth." Jackson was sporting long, shoulder length, wavy hair, and "looks better than ever." Not one to play it up for the paps, Jackson exited through the back door leaving about 25 snappers without their shots. |

Polow Da Don determined to get Janet back in the clubs
Polow Da Don revealed in an exclusive interview with SOOH.com that his focus in the studio with Janet right now is to give her a club hit, as opposed to just a radio hit.
"I just feel like, the music's different from the last time she was 'it,'" he said in the interview.
"I'm gonna dig deep, I'm gonna give her my best, and I'm gonna put her in the club 'cause that's where the kids register what's a hit," he explained. "So, we could have the radio hits with her all day. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Jermaine [Dupri] and a lot of people can do that for her, but my particular focus is gonna be the clubs."
Polow had revealed earlier this month that he was working on Janet's new album. Video of this new interview with Polow can be streamed at SOOH.com. |

It's official: Janet signs record contract with Island Def Jam
Janet has signed a new record contract with Island Def Jam, Jermaine Dupri tells Billboard in the July 23 issue of the magazine.
"She's on Island, but it's more or less [Def Jam CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid's] project," Dupri tells the magazine. "I let him deal with that on a day-to-day basis. He's going to A&R that project, too. Janet's record is one that he's wanted to do for a long time. He's very passionate about it."
As for the direction of Janet's as-yet-untitled album, Dupri says, "I don't really know what he's got in mind at this point. His past record isn't shabby so I'm going to let him do what he's going to do. I'm going to do [the new] Mariah [Carey album], and we're going to make it seem like we're in competition to see who's going to have the biggest album of the year."
Billboard reports that despite there being no release date for the album, rumors suggest that it may be ready before the end of the year.
This is the third label that Janet has been signed with throughout her music career. Her first contract was with A&M Records, followed by Virgin. |
