New message from Janet on janet-jackson.com The following new message from Janet was posted this afternoon on Janet-Jackson.com:
How r u?
Its been more than too long since we've spoken? How is your life going? All is well with me. There's so much to update u on. Where do I start?
Well, I just finished filming the new Tyler Perry movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" It was one of the best experiences I've ever had on a film.
Its an ensemble cast that includes Richard T. Jones, Jill Scott, Malik Yoba, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Sharon Leal and Tyler Perry - who wrote, produced and directed the movie. I play an educated author & psychologist who writes about love, marriage and relationships and counsels as well. Its a great departure 4 me from my other roles and I can't wait for u to see the movie when it opens later this year.
Have you seen my Vibe Vixen cover? I LOVE it! The story was great and I love the photos the fabulous Ruven Afanador shot. I'm also on the cover of famed photographer Michel Haddi's new magazine, Sly & Chic. We shot it in the Hollywood Hills a few months ago - real classic Hollywood style - a totally different look. The magazine should be on stands in the states in a couple of weeks - I hope u like it.
On the music side, I've been in crazy rehearsals preparing for my performance at the Atlantis - Phase III opening on May 11th. I'm performing a mini concert and planning to enjoy the Bahamas with the kids. Then I'm off to Europe to do an event in Cannes and London.
I hope you are preparing to have a great summer and I promise to keep in better touch.

Dupri: Janet to appear on 'Rush Hour 3' soundtrack Jermaine Dupri posted a bulletin on his MySpace page yesterday afternoon announcing that Janet will have a single on the upcoming "Rush Hour 3" soundtrack, which will be released by Island Records.
No additional details were given.

'Married' finished filming, projected release moved to October Director Tyler Perry posted a message on his official website today, announcing that the movie "Why Did I Get Married?" has finished filming and will be tentativey released this October. Previously, it had been announced that the movie would be released in February 2008.
The portion of Perry's message concerning the movie is posted below:
"I have been so crazy busy that I haven't had a chance to write in a while. I just finished shooting the new movie, WHY DID I GET MARRIED? Just wait ... you just wait.
Can I tell you that I love Jill Scott? That is the kind of woman that can smile and end a war. Really she is unbelievable. And Janet Jackson has to be the most professional superstar that I have ever worked with. She was the first one there and the last one to leave--always on time and no drama. These women put it down! I'll talk more about the rest of the cast later, but this was the best time that I have had making a movie yet. We're looking to release it in October of this year."

"Call On Me": Hot 100 Singles Sales: 29 to 38 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales: drops out
Suit against Janet to move forward A Manhattan judge denied a bid by Janet to get a $120 million assault lawsuit against her thrown out, and said that she will have to answer questions under oath concerning the case, the New York Post is reporting.
Leonard Salati had filed a suit againt Janet alleging that two of her bodyguards grabbed and choked him when he tried to pass her a note at Club Marquee in February 2004.
Janet's lawyers attempted to get the suit thrown out because her and Jermaine Dupri only had one bodyguard working for them that night who was Caucasian, 5-foot-8, and weighed 180 pounds. Salati says the men who roughed him up were African-American and one of them was 300 pounds.
In a ruling released yesterday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Rolando Acosta ruled that the case can go forward, noting that despite Janet's assertions to the contrary, the club - which is also being sued - said she had at least three bodyguards, and two of them were African-American.
The judge also noted the bodyguard's license does "not show that he is Caucasian. Indeed, to his court's untrained eye, he appears to be a medium dark latino, [who] could pass as being African-American."
"Notwithstanding counsel's valiant effort to shield Ms. Jackson," the law grants "no exemptions based on celebrity status," the judge wrote, and said she will have to give a deposition.
