Janet scores 30th top 10 single, 'So Excited' released to radio
In a press release issued this morning, Virgin Records celebrates the success of "Call On Me" on the R&B charts, and announces that "So Excited" officially will be released to radio today.

The full press release appears below:

Janet Jackson Scores 30th Top 10 Single with 'Call On Me' from Upcoming Album 20 Y.O.

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- With its Number 9 position, "Call On Me," has become Janet Jackson's 30th Top 10 single on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The R&B superstar is now tied with R. Kelly for scoring the most Top 10 singles since Billboard began deriving chart information from Nielsen SoundScan data in 1992.

Since then, Janet has had 15 chart-topping hits to Kelly's 11, and seven consecutive Number One's, including "That's The Way Love Goes," "Again," "Any Time, Any Place/And On And On," "Together Again," "I Get Lonely," "Doesn't Really Matter," and "All For You."

The breezy, laid-back "Call On Me," featuring St. Louis hip-hop star Nelly, is the lead-off single from Janet's upcoming album 20 Y.O., which will be released by Virgin Records on September 26th. The second single from the album, "So Excited," featuring rapper Khia, will be released to radio today. Dupri premiered the track on his radio show on Atlanta's V-103 last weekend. Janet began shooting the video for the song in Los Angeles on August 23rd with noted director Joseph Kahn, who also directed her clip for "Doesn't Really Matter."

20 Y.O. marks the anniversary of Janet's career-making 1986 album, Control, re-teaming her with her original collaborators, legendary hit-makers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis, and Grammy-Award winner Jermaine Dupri.

Look for Janet on the cover of this month's issue of Vibe magazine.

Janet attends House of Latex in NYC
Janet, dancer/choreographer Gil Duldulao, and several of her other dancers made a surprise appearance in the audience of the House of Latex Ball Saturday night in New York at the Roseland Ballroom.

The House of Latex is one of several "houses" that represent the ballroom dance scene in the United States. The Ball is one of many competitions amongst the houses that take place across the country every year. It was founded in 1989 at the Eddie Africa ball when members of the ballroom community and employees of Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) decided to support the efforts of youth and young adults to stay healthy and prevent the spread of HIV.

This particular style of dance arose from the Harlem ballrooms back in the early 1930s. It was first called "performance" and has since evolved into the more intricate and illusory form that is now commonly referred to as "vogue."

In Style lists Janet's guilty pleasures
The September issue of In Style Magazine features a brief interview with Janet where she lists her most guilty pleasures. The full article appears below:

Janet Jackson's Guilty Pleasures
Musically (and at heart) the 40-year-old Virgin Records artist is still 20 Years Old - as her sweet indulgences attest.

Midnight snack? "When I come home from a club, my wish is to have a huge bowl of Frosted Flakes. I only have it once in a blue moon--because I can't have just one bowl."

Shopping spree? "I'm a shoe freak, and I've loved Christian Louboutin forever. Oprah didn't know who he was before I wore his boots on her show. For dancing I prefer Adidas. It depends on my mood."

Late-night TV? "Conan O'Brien is light and silly, and there's alot of laughter. I like to end the day with that energy and positivity--it feels good. By contrast I also love watching the news on BBC."

Cocktail? "The last time I had a sip of something was on by birthday--and I felt a little tipsy! It was cranberry juice with 3 Vodka, made from soy. It went down so smooth, I couldn't believe it."

Rainy-day movie? "People probably don't know I love gangster films, but I have the whole Godfather series and Scarface. The violence doesn't bother me. I'm a tomboy."

Fashion addiction? "I can't live without jeans. Levi's are always classy, and I like True Religion. But it's always hard to find jeans that fit: Sometimes they fit at the waist, but then I can't get my booty in there."

Food? "The turkey burger from Fatburger is fabulous. Maybe that doesn't sound guilty enough, but I order it with large fries and a strawberry soda."

AP reports on Janet's 'topless' Vibe cover
The following article comes from the Associated Press:

Janet Jackson Poses Topless for Vibe
Janet Jackson Poses Topless for Cover of Vibe Magazine, Says Super Bowl Incident Is 'History'

The Associated Press

NEW YORK - Janet Jackson has never been afraid to expose some skin. The 40-year-old singer, newly svelte after losing some 60 pounds, appears on the cover of Vibe magazine wearing a skimpy bikini bottom and a necklace made of large shells. Her right arm covers her breasts.

Will she ever stop posing for sexy photos? "Of course. When I'm 80," she tells Vibe. "That's when I'll call it quits."

Two years ago, Justin Timberlake pulled off a part of Jackson's bustier, briefly exposing one of her breasts, during the Super Bowl halftime show.

In an interview in the magazine's September issue, on newsstands Aug. 15, Jackson says the incident variously referred to as "Nipplegate" and the "bra-ha-ha" is history.

"It's just over and done with. It's old. It's the past. It's history. I'm onto something new. Everybody got their licks in those who wanted to and it's done," she says.

Jackson credits her boyfriend, 33-year-old music producer Jermaine Dupri, for giving her self-esteem "a little boost."

"I came to realize that younger men had less of a problem with who I am than older men," she says. "With the younger guys, there was less ego. Things were less competitive. They weren't threatened by who made more and who made less."

She says that with Dupri, she feels as if she's met her match.

"When I look at Jermaine, I see myself," Jackson says. "I feel as if I'm looking in the mirror. The connection I feel with him I have never felt with anybody else."

Her new album, "20 Y.O.," is slated for release Sept. 26. Dupri produced a few tracks, and longtime collaborators Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis pitched in on the disc as well.

The pop star recently said she had packed on extra weight for a role in the upcoming movie "Tennessee," which she ultimately had to pass on because of her new record.

When asked if she'd rather have a hit album or win an Oscar, she says: "Win an Oscar. It's just a passion. But can't I have both? Everybody in my family says I'm spoiled anyway. I want both..."

Excerpts and photos from September issue of Vibe Magazine
Posted below are some excerpts of Janet's interview in the September issue of Vibe Magazine, along with two digital snapshots of the inside photo pages.

The interview takes place at 37,000 feet in a private Gulfstream jet from Miami to New York.

Have you ever thought about stripping for Jermaine? Or have you taken action?
Have I? Yeah, I love it, because I know he loves it.

Would you say you are a "toys" couple, a "making movies" couple, or an "all out in the public" couple?
All of the above.

Does Jermaine like your butt?
Like my butt? He better love my ass. (laughs)

It must have been tough for your family to get used to your sexy image.
I think they just say, "You know what? Just let her go. God help her." (laughs)

You turned 40 this year. Will there ever be a time when you won't be topless on a magazine cover?
Of course. When I'm 80. That's when i'll call it quits.

What advice would you give to the Janet who was about to make Control twenty years ago?
I would tell her to enjoy every single moment. Not to take things so seriously. And that it's all gonna be okay. Life's gonna be o-kay.

Also covered in this interview, Janet discusses recording "Enjoy" during the final stages of her brother Michael's recent trial. She says hot-water cornbread and fried catfish seasoned with Lawry's is one dish she can cook. Also, Janet mentions that younger men have less of a problem with who she is than older men. Finally, Janet says she had to get used to Jermaine picking up the bill because she was used to taking care of everything--now, after a conversation, they take turns paying.

Vibe's September issue is being shipped to subscribers and should be on shelves within the week.
