JD posts new info & photo from set of 'Call On Me' video shoot Jermaine Dupri has begun posting messages under the nickname "SOSODEF" on the official Janet-Jackson.com message board.
In addition to the exclusive photo from the set of the "Call On Me" video that he posted early this morning (as seen on here the left), so far Jermaine has shared, through a number of postings, the following new information concerning Janet and the release of her new album:
- Janet and Nelly began filming the "Call On Me" video on Wednesday in Los Angeles. It is going to be a five to six day shoot, and will probably end up being the most expensive video of the past three years.
- MTV International will be on the set of the video to film an episode of Making The Video. In addition, footage from the video shoot will be shown on DirecTV's's CD USA, BET's Access Granted, Entertainment Tonight, and Access Hollywood.
- The choice for the second single has not been determined yet, despite rumors that it had already been decided that "So Excited" would be the next single. Jermaine says the choice has not been made yet. There will indeed, however, be another single released before the album drops in September.
- A new official website for Janet is being created right now and should be active sometime in middle of July.
- Jermaine is going to start an album cover contest for fans to create an album cover for "20 Years Old." According to his plans, the first million copies of the album will be published with this fan-created cover. The concept of the contest is to create an album cover that bests celebrates Janet's past 20 years. Details on the contest will come out in the middle of July.
- JD and Janet have no plans to get married. He says that they haven't even talked about it, and they are too focused on the new album and tour.
- There will be a special DVD included with the album that features the dancers' auditions, footage of Janet recording the album in the studio, footage from various photo shoots, and footage of Janet picking the winner of the upcoming album cover contest.
- Both Janet and Jermaine have their own individual official MySpace profiles. Janet's is at myspace.com/JanetJackson and Jermaine's can be viewed at myspace.com/SoSoDefMusic. He encourages fans to leave messages for them at both sites.
- Janet and Jermaine will be going to London from July 25 until July 31.
- The "20 Years Old" album is not a tribute to the "Control" album, but rather a celebration of the album.
- Janet's favorite song from the album so far is "This Body Of Mine." [It had been previously been reported earlier this month that one of the new songs produced by LRoc was titled "This Body."]
Janet invited to attend Nelly's Black and White Ball in St. Louis Janet is one of the many celebrities invited by Nelly to attend the Black and White Ball at the St. Louis Contemporary Art Museum on Sunday, the Associated Press reports.
On Saturday, the night before the VIP event, others stars, including Usher and Jermaine Dupri, are expected at Dreams night club party while the city holds its annual Fair St. Louis.
This is the first year of what could be a July 4th tradition in St. Louis of Nelly's little-publicized black tie affair.
At this point, it is unknown if Janet has been confirmed to attend either of these two events.
HMV Japan posts new photo, bonus DVD with '20 Years Old' The Japanese HMV website has posted a new promotional photograph of Janet, as seen below, on their website.

JD gives more insight into Khia's role on 'So Excited' Prior to Monday's ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards, Jermaine Dupri was asked to explain further details regarding Khia's role in the new song "So Excited," website EUR reports.
As was previously reported, Jermaine insisted that Khia still appears on the track, however he now says that she does not actually rap on the song.
"Khia's on the record because I'm a producer and I heard a sound that I wanted," he explains to EUR. "She don't actually rap on the record, I'm giving you the exclusive. It's something that I did with her voice. I mean, a lot of people who hear it, they might not even realize that it's her."
"I use textures when I do records and I just wanted her voice texture on this record, and she really made this song," he continues. "Now she's been complaining saying she's been taken off the record, I don't know where that came from. She's really foolish to be out here talking [like this]. I'm still gonna keep her on the song because she ain't know what she was doing."

"This party promises to be even bigger and better than the last and will also raise funds for the Jermaine Dupri Foundation, which I started as a way of giving back to the kids in local communities around the U.S.," Jermaine Dupri says in the event's press release.
The event organizers are holding the event following the BET Awards and have invited guests of that awards show to attend their party. It is unknown right now if Janet will also be attending the awards.

Janet has previously seen Aviance perform in the past at New York's Splash Bar.
Report: Khia confirmed for 'So Excited' Jermaine Dupri is squashing internet rumors that rapper Khia has been dumped off of one of the new tracks from "20 Years Old" titled "So Excited."
"Contrary to what has been reported, Khia WILL be featured on the new Janet Jackson album. I can verify that the song, "So Excited," which features Khia, is in the process of being mixed and will appear on Janet's highly anticipated release, 20 Years Old, when it hits stores on September 26th."
The false rumors began when other Janet Jackson fansites reported that Khia had been dropped from the song.
'Call On Me' debuts on Billboard charts, week ending July 1 "Call On Me" has debuted on the Billboard charts in the positions listed below. The song reached these spots based on just a couple of days of airplay only from stations who played the song before the official release date.
It is also worth pointing out that on the charts themselves, the song is listed as "Janet Duet With Nelly." This, along with a previously released promotional advertisement, indicate that she may be once again dropping her last name and simply going as "Janet" for this album, however that has not been confirmed yet.
Billboard Charts for the week ending July 1, 2006:
Hot 100 Airplay: #71 Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles: #8 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks: #48 [Hot Shot Debut] Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay: #46

JD confirms Janet & Mariah duet for new album Jermaine Dupri has confirmed to MTV that he is working on a duet between Janet and Mariah that, if not recorded in time for the initial release of "20 Years Old," may appear on an eventual repackaging of the album.
Jermaine Dupri Promises Mariah, Janet Duet On New Album
06.20.2006 6:00 AM EDT
Earlier this month, Jermaine Dupri demonstrated he's a true showman by bringing out Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson during his set at the Summer Jam radio festival in New Jersey. Now, Dupri is thinking about how to pull the ultimate trump card and get the two legends on the same song.
In April, Carey hinted that she was very open to the collaboration. "He never talked to me about that, but if Jermaine has a concept, we should go and write something," she told MTV Radio. "I love Janet. I've been a big fan of Janet since 'Con-tro-ol!'"
On Friday, JD said he is, in fact, developing an idea for Carey and his longtime girlfriend to do it up right on a song.
"It's gonna happen on this record," he said about the collaboration. "Please believe that. I got a mean idea, so look for it. We definitely gonna do a repackage on [Janet's 20 Years Old] once it comes out. Hopefully it's successful and people buy into it, then I'm going back in the studio.
"What happened was, when I was working with Janet, I got into the zone. This was my first time ever working with her. When I get into my zone with artists, I just want to create and create and create. That's what happened with me and Mariah [on The Emancipation of Mimi]. We don't run outta ideas; we keep coming up with sh--. The closer I get to that idea [for Janet and Mariah], the more I know where it should be at. It's feeling like it's gonna happen."
Dupri also said the Janet and Mariah record - if he pulls it off - could appear on the initial run of 20 Years Old.
"It depends on how quick my mind moves," he said. "We're mixing records for [20 Years Old]. We're not done yet. When I did Usher's My Way album, the last record I created was 'You Make Me Wanna ... .' I'm thinking I might go back in, and I might tamper with it. ... We gotta try to figure it out."
JD hopes to have the Janet and Mariah duet mapped out and recorded before Carey goes on tour this summer. Dupri also said he's accepted Mariah's invite to go out on the road with her. He won't be at every single date, but he promises to pop up here and there and support his homie.
"I'mma go to the hot spots," he said of the tour. "She's going to Miami first. I'm definitely gonna be at that show. I'm definitely gonna be in New York, in Atlanta. That's my partner. Whatever she needs me to do, I'm there."
When he's not onstage, Jermaine already has a full plate of production scheduled for the rest of the year. He's working on a slew of his So So Def artists, including Johnta Austin, Manish Man, T. Waters and Young Capone. Bow Wow's next album is on Dupri's to-do list, as are records from 3LW, JoJo, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Frankie J, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Nelly, Usher ("We gonna start on his record at the end of the year") and Mariah Carey once she gets off tour.
Janet's JD-produced "Call on Me," is the first single from the September 26 release 20 Years Old, and made its official debut Tuesday (June 20).
"It's a duet between her and Nelly," Dupri said. "It's the jump-off. It's really just a record about when you need a friend, somebody you need to talk to, just call on a person. It's a friend record. It ain't really a boyfriend/girlfriend record. The way Nelly and Janet is talking is more girlfriend/boyfriend, but it really goes out to friends."
Nelly being a close friend of JD made him a perfect candidate to rap on the song. Well, that and the fact that Nelly and Dupri have a super-smash under their belts already.
"Nelly, I try to do what I do with my friends," Dupri explained. "Me and him had just come off the success of 'Grillz' at the time I made this record. He was the person on my mind. "Especially since Janet only made records, not to disrespect Q-Tip or Heavy D, but as far as popular rappers in this day and time, Busta Rhymes was the only one. We was trying to go to the radio and not do the typical R&B featured record. I was trying to be more creative and find somebody who can do melody as well as rap on the record. Nelly don't really rap on this song, he's singing. He has that different style. That's kind of what the record is. We see that enough: R&B with a rapper feature. That's why I call this a duet as opposed to a feature."
With new singer/rapper collaborations in abundance, like Beyonce and Jay-Z's "Deja Vu" and Ciara and Chamillionaire's "Get Up," JD said he really wanted Janet and Nelly to have their own lane.
"I never really pay attention to anybody else's record when I'm doing what I'm doing," he said. "I was just trying to give her the look she hasn't had in a minute. That would be both an incredible look on TV as well as a star moment, as well as a big record on radio. That's all the elements I was putting into making this record. We don't just have a record that's just a Nelly and Janet record. I believe this record is gonna be one of the biggest records on radio this year. Outside of who it is, it's a well-put-together song."
New promo photo on AOL Music website A brand new promotional photo, as seen below, was taken from AOL Music's website. The website is also offering a stream of "Call On Me."

Janet working with Snoop for rapper's new album Janet has been working with Snoop Dogg for the rapper's upcoming album, "Blue Carpet Treatment."
"It's coming together so good," Snoop tells Billboard about his new album. "I've been working on it for nine months. I've been working with Pharrell, Timbaland, will.i.am, Stevie Wonder, James Ingram, Warren G, R. Kelly, Ne-Yo, Akon, Jermaine Dupri, Janet Jackson, on and on. I have so much good material -- it's about [figuring out] what I'm going to use on my record."
Details on what exactly he did with Janet are unknown at this time. No release date has been announced yet for the project.
New promotional advertisement & photo for 'Call On Me' An advertisement for "Call On Me" is being published in trade magazines to promote the song to radio DJs.
The advertisement, seen below, includes a brand new photograph of Janet. It also indicates that the song is being distributed to radio DJs as a digital download on the 19th.
Video & photos from Us Weekly office visit Janet made a visit to the Us Weekly offices in New York yesterday to celebrate, along with the magazine's staff, the large success of the magazine's recent issue that featured Janet on the cover.
Video footage and photos of Janet's visit are on Us Weekly's blog here and here.
In the video, Janet reveals lots of previously unknown information to Us Weekly west coast senior editor Ian Drew.
When discussing the new single "Call On Me," Janet reveals that she did not take part in writing the song. Jermaine Dupri and Nelly worked on the song together in Atlanta, and when Janet heard what they had worked on, she decided that she would like to record it.
She also reveals that the song's video, directed by Hype Williams, will be a seven to ten day shoot and will be filmed in Los Angeles. "We were going to film it in Dubai or Argentina," she says, "but it was a scheduling issue...so it wasn't going to quite work out being that far away. And I think it's gonna be different, it's gonna be fun."
Although the album "20 Years Old" takes its inspiration from 1986's "Control," the lyrics on the album will be lighter and more celebratory than that breakout album. "It's definitely on the lighter side... It's more celebrating musically speaking, in that way, what was going on in music twenty, twenty-five years ago."
Rehearsals for the tour, which she emphasizes will be a world tour, will begin around November or December.

I've also had so much fun hanging out in New York going to the CFDA, a Cartier benefit and LA Reid's birthday party. And I'm still here preparing to be the cover girl for both FHM and Giant Magazines. Then I'm off to LA to start shooting the video with Nelly. Talking about her new album, Janet tells The Insider, "The inspiration came from music that inspired me 20 years ago and taking myself back to that time. I hope you guys like it!"
Janet herself admits that she was surprised about her weight loss.
"I said, 'Goodness, that's definitely a big difference!'" Janet says, adding, "If I can do it, they can. You have to have a wonderful trainer and someone who will drag you out of bed when you need it. Tony Martinez has definitely dragged me out of bed and I've asked him to! I get very bored. One day it will be about tennis, the next day we'd hit balls at the batting cages. [It's about] getting my heart rate up, keeping it going."
Janet's upcoming promo schedule Some brief news regarding Janet's upcoming promotional schedule has been posted on the EMI Taiwan website.
According to the site, the video for "Call On Me" will be filmed sometime towards the end of June and will be completed in July.
While "Call On Me" will be released to radio in the US on June 19, it will not hit radio in the rest of the world until July.

It Was Twenty Years Ago Today... Janet Jackson's "20 Years Old" Released September 26, 2006 on Virgin, Set to Recapture the Magic of Landmark 1986 Album "Control"
Music Icon Janet Jackson Re-Teams With Legendary Hitmakers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis and Album Executive Producer Jermaine "JD" Dupri
NEW YORK CITY, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/12/2006 -- Few albums in the history of American music have ever had the far-reaching and lasting artistic impact of superstar JANET JACKSON's 1986 "Control." From its empowered message and songcraft, to its genre-defining production, and the extraordinarily compelling emergence of the singer as a musically complete artist, "Control" was immediately greeted as the watershed album -- and Jackson the definitive artist -- in no less than three distinct musical categories -- pop, R&B and hip-hop.
With the hotly anticipated release of the new JANET JACKSON album "20 YEARS OLD" scheduled this September on Virgin Records, her new work promises to be no less influential, as Jackson teams with the most successful pop/R&B producer of the post-2000 period, Jermaine 'JD' Dupri, and longtime friends and hitmakers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis, her original collaborators on "Control." The four now make up an unparalleled dream team of talent behind the microphone and the mixing board. Just as "Control" marked a personal rebirth and a smashing creative achievement twenty years ago, "20 YEARS OLD" celebrates, at once, two decades of continued growth, as well as the essential newness of creativity. The set's lead single, "Call on Me," featuring St. Louis hip-hop star Nelly, will arrive at radio on June 19th.
The six powerful and innovative hit songs and videos that came off "Control" -- "What Have You Done for Me Lately," "Nasty," "When I Think of You," "The Pleasure Principle," the title track, and "Let's Wait Awhile" -- were minutely examined by fans and young performers, and they launched a thousand admirers and imitators through the balance of the Eighties and the Nineties. Jackson's revolutionary video clips have continued to be acknowledged as the true classics of the music video era, whose dance style and cinematic production values set the bar higher than anyone had ever dared attempt. Still, for young female listeners, it was the imaginative and liberated lyric content that resonated most -- just the way that the producers and co-writers Jam & Lewis realized it would, as Jackson's witty, honest and intimate poems took shape as songs in their Minneapolis-based Flyte Tyme studio in late 1985. "Control" sold over 5 million copies in the U.S. alone in just three and a half years -- at which time Jackson and Jam & Lewis rocked the world again with the follow-up album, "Rhythm Nation 1814."
With the collective track record involved, there's no way to avoid high expectations for the upcoming album -- and no reason to. "20 YEARS OLD" is a sure thing to throw down the new standards, blow a new generation of minds, light a fire under every young artist, and rock the party. "Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are musical powerhouses," says Dupri. "Our individual success have been unparalleled and have kept music fans bouncing to our beats and singing our songs for years. The world has no idea what they are about to experience -- Janet has the best production trio possible -- and I guarantee, we will deliver!"
