Leaked track not to appear on new album
The new track leaked to Montreal radio station CKUT last Saturday and then subsequently spread around the internet will not appear on Janet's new album, Janet said in a statement released to the press on Friday.
"A couple of years ago I recorded some tracks with Rich Harrison. But none of that music will appear on my new album," Janet said in the statement. "I have a tight rein on all of the music that has been recorded. So all of the websites or blogs hinting that these songs are from '20 Years Old' are false." |

Montreal radio station plays 'new' Janet song
Montreal radio station CKUT played a never-before-released Janet song during their Masters At Work program on Saturday evening.
No information was given as to what exactly this track is, including its title.
The track is reminiscent of an unreleased song from the 2004 "Damita Jo" sessions that was played during several auditions for dancers during that era. The track had been commonly referred to amongst fans as "Speed It Up," however the official title of that song is still not known.
On the version played by CKUT this weekend, two rap artists have been added, which is leading some fans to speculate that it is a different version of the unreleased 2004 song.
It is not known whether this track has been re-worked and intended to be on Janet's upcoming album, or if someone from CKUT managed to get the two-year-old track from the "Damita Jo" sessions that had never been released.
The track can be heard at CKUT's Masters At Work website.

New Janet single in May; Album in September
The first single from Janet's new album will be released to radio in May, according to Billboard Online.
The album will be released in September, according to Janet's beau and Virgin Urban president Jermaine Dupri. Longine Jackson collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are also working on the production.
According to Dupri, "You'll hear my voice on some songs, but I don't know if Jermaine Dupri the artist exists anymore. I'm not into that right now. It's far on the back burner. It's probably in the cards somewhere down the road. But it's the last thing I'm thinking about right now."
No official release dates or titles have been announced for Janet's current project. |
