Janet to appear on Sly & the Family Stone tribute album
Janet will be one of the various acts that will appear on "Different Strokes by Different Folks," a Sly & the Family Stone tribute album, according to Billboard.com.
For the tribute album, Janet has put together a track titled "Thank You Nation 1814." The track intersperses her own song "Rhythm Nation" into Sly & the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)," which is the track that Janet originally had sampled in her 1989 song. It is unknown right now if Janet has recorded new vocals for this track, or if this is just a mash-up of the two originally recorded songs put together.
The album will be released on September 27 in the United States and can currently be pre-ordered online. |

Billboard: Jam & Lewis back with Janet on new album
Producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are currently hard at work on Janet's new album, now due in 2006, according to Billboard.com.
"It used to be a lot of involvement from all of us, and at some point when Janet became more confident with her writing ability, she [did] the bulk of the writing," Jam tells Billboard. "And it's kind of back full circle. We're all kind of back in there doing it again together, which I really enjoy."
Jam adds, "It's the physical nature of sitting in the same room and really hashing it out. It's like, 'You're not going to leave until we got a lyric,' so it's fun."
Some recording has taken place at Jermaine Dupri's studio. Dupri is also executive producer on the album. |
