CBS fined $550,000 for Super Bowl halftime show
The FCC officially announced today that it will be fining CBS $550,000 for the "wardrobe malfunction" that took place at February's Super Bowl halftime show between Janet and Justin Timberlake, according to a CNN report.
The maximum $27,500 fine was levied on each of the 20 affiliates of CBS that are owned by the network. Affiliates with separate owners were spared the fine.
"No television event has ever received as many complaints from the American public - over 540,000 - as the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show produced by CBS," said a statement from FCC Chairman Michael Powell. "Indecency determinations, however, must be made cautiously and with appropriate restraint."
CBS is reviewing its options regarding an appeal.
"We are extremely disappointed in the ruling," said a statement from the network. "While we regret that the incident occurred and have apologized to our viewers, we continue to believe that nothing in the Super Bowl broadcast violated indecency laws. Furthermore, our investigation proved that no one in our company had any advance knowledge about the incident."
Janet has not yet made a statement regarding the fine. |

Jackson siblings again wear white to court hearing
Janet and her siblings once again wore all white clothing to Michael Jackson's pretrial hearing today in Santa Maria, California.
The mother of the teenage boy who is accusing Michael of molestation testified so that lawyers could determine what evidence can be allowed during the actual trial. The trial is expected to begin on January 31.
According to the Jackson family's website, the all white clothing was meant to signify innocence. Katherine Jackson wore a brown dress.

Janet regrets recording duet with Beenie Man
In an interview that appears in the October issue of Genre Magazine, Janet admits that she regrets recording the 2002 track "Feel It Boy" with Beenie Man, who in the past has recorded songs that include violently anti-gay lyrics, including some that advocate killing gays. She insists that she was unaware of Beenie Man's homophobic past.
"Truly, if I would have known that, I would not have worked with him," Janet said. "It's shocking to me - we're on the same label, so I should have known. But at the same time, I wish someone from the company would have told me, knowing how supportive you guys have been to me and how I feel about the gay community."
As was previously reported, in the same interview Janet also discusses her disdain for President Bush and her regret over apologizing for the Super Bowl incident, which she maintains was an accident. The issue is on newsstands now. |

"She wanted to go... and I felt if I didn't take her, she was going to think I was hiding something," Jermaine explained. "It is what it is. We go. We spend money. They dance. They take off their clothes. We go home." |

Janet admits to flubbing lines while filming 'Will & Grace'
Janet admitted to flubbing some of her lines while filming her guest appearance on this month's episode of "Will & Grace", Elites TV is reporting.
"I flubbed my lines and got so frustrated when I make mistakes. I haven't done [scripted] TV since 'Diff'rent Strokes', and it's not like 'Saturday Night Live' where you can read cue cards.
"On 'Will & Grace' they're always rewriting, so you're always memorising.
"I had the most trouble with this name, Artemis. Every time I tried to say it, it comes out 'Amadeus'. So I wrote it down - 'Ar-tem-is, Ar-tem-is' - over and over.
"The dancing, though, I could do. That's the easy part of playing myself."
Janet arrives on the sitcom after Sean Hayes's character Jack gets kicked off Jennifer Lopez's dancing squad. |
