Janet & Dupri spotted at Atlanta nightclub
Janet and her steady flame Jermaine Dupri were spotted at Charlie Brown's Cabaret in Atlanta early Sunday morning, according to the following article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Jackson, Dupri apart? Guess again
By Richard L. Eldredge
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution | October 29, 2003
It looks like those breakup rumors were off the mark last month. Either that, or Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri are cribbing from "The Bennifer Relationship Handbook." The local rap impresario and his singing steady have been all over town the last few days.
Early Sunday morning, they walked into Charlie Brown's Cabaret at Backstreet in Midtown and immediately received a standing ovation from the capacity crowd. Jackson's people had called ahead Saturday afternoon; the table for 10 had been given away around midnight when they failed to materialize. When Jackson's bodyguards turned up, the room's drag queen namesake and top female dog had to free up the space once again.
"All I had to do was tell them who it was for and they were only too happy to move," Brown told Buzz on Tuesday. Dupri, Jackson and company took in about an hour of the show, got to see Brown perform "Sweet Home Alabama," tipped performer Lena Lust $50 for doing her legendary Tina Turner tribute and left blowing air kisses to Brown.
"The entire audience said 'Good Night, Janet!' to her in unison," reports Brown. The only provision? No Jackson-family-related jokes. "That's OK," reasons Brown. "We've always got enough to terrorize the audience with."
Apparently, Brown's trademark tart tongue didn't adequately scare the celebrity couple. They turned up at Netherworld Haunted House on Sunday night for the second year in a row. |
