- Daniel Frankel
JUNE 11 | WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Eager to expand its market share in the DVD special interest category in general, and the music video area in particular, Warner Home Video has entered into an agreement with concert-video specialist Eagle Rock Entertainment to distribute select titles.
The collaboration, announced Tuesday during a news conference at the House of Blues, warms up with the July 16 release of "J.R.R. Tolkien: Master of the Rings", a documentary DVD packaged with a music CD by Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman. However, both companies are billing the Sept. 3 release of the concert title "Janet Jackson: Live in Hawaii" as the relationship's true coronation.
The 90-minute release chronicles Jackson's recent "All for You" tour, focusing on its visit to Aloha Stadium in Honolulu (the show was broadcast earlier this year by WHV sister company HBO). It's a follow-up to the 1998 Emmy-winning "Janet: The Velvet Rope", distributed by Eagle Rock under its Eagle Vision label. |
