Jimmy Jam Hypes Up 'The Next Janet'
While backstage at Wednesday night's Grammy Awards, Janet's longtime producer Jimmy Jam told MTV News that up-and-coming 16-year-old singer Nodesha is posed to be "the next Janet." Nodesha's first album, produced by Jam and Lewis, hits stores on June 25th.
After Jimmy and Terry accepted the Best Dance Recording award for "All For You" during the Grammy pre-show, Jimmy remarked in the press room about his joy of having produced another hit track.
"When I deejayed, one of my favorite songs was 'The Glow of Love'. I always wanted to redo that song, update it. And Janet was the perfect person to do it. It's nice to take a song that was once a hit and bring it back 20 years later and have it be a hit for a whole new generation."
"There's a magic that happens when we work together," Jam said about Janet. "We can always be honest with each other, and if a song isn't working we can just say, 'It's not working. It's a terrible idea.' " |
